Counter Table — JIC, BSPF and JISG Codes by Size

This is the counter table for the three families we carry most: JIC, BSPF and JISG. Every code and thread below was read from the supplier lists, not estimated. For 45 degrees change the fourth digit to 4, and for 90 degrees change it to 9 — so 22612 becomes 22642 and 22692.

Straight fittings by size and family

The diagram compares the three sealing faces in cross-section, with the sealing surface picked out in red. On the left is the cone seat, seat letter C, used by family 267 JIC and family 296 JISG and called ကေတာ့ at the counter. In the middle is the 60 degree BSP cone, seat letter D, used by family 226 BSPF and called ပုတီး. On the right is the ORFS flat face of family 242, which seals on an O-ring rather than on metal, and is called ဒဲ့ ပြား. The warning at the bottom is the point of the picture: two fittings with the same thread but different seats will screw together and will not seal.

How do I use this table?

Find the row for your hose size, then the column for the thread type on the machine. The code in that cell is the straight fitting. If the old one was bent, change the fourth digit: 4 for 45 degrees, 9 for 90 degrees. A 1/2 inch hose onto a BSP female port is 22612-08-08 straight, 22642-08-08 at 45 degrees, 22692-08-08 at 90 degrees.

Why do the small sizes end in 1 and the big sizes in 2?

That fifth digit is the series, and for BSPF and JISG the stocked series changes at dash 08. Dash 04 and 06 are series 1, so 22611 and 29611. Dash 08 and above are series 2, so 22612 and 29612. JIC is the exception — family 267 stays on series 1 across its whole range, from 26711-04-04 up to 26711-16-16.

JIC and JISG are both called ကေတာ့ — how do I tell them apart?

By the thread, not the seat. Both use a cone seat, which is why the counter calls both ကေတာ့ and why both carry seat letter C. But JIC threads are UN threads, written U7/16 and U3/4, while JISG threads are BSP, written G1/4 and G1/2. If the description starts with U it is JIC; if it starts with G with a C seat it is JISG.

BSPF and JISG both use G threads — are they interchangeable?

No, and this is the trap. At dash 08 both are G1/2 and both will screw on, but 22612-08-08 has a D seat and 29612-08-08 has a C cone seat. The threads match, the sealing faces do not, and the joint will weep under pressure. Check the last letter of the description every time: D is BSPF, C is JISG.

What is ORFS and why is it not in the table?

ORFS is the 242 family. Our own catalogue names the standard in full: ORFS Female Flat Seat, ISO 12151-1 and SAE J516. It is called ဒဲ့ ပြား at the counter because it seals on a flat face with an O-ring rather than on a cone. The codes run 24211 and 24212, with 24241 and 24291 for the angles. It is left out of the size table because the supplier lists carry these codes without thread descriptions, and we will not print a thread size we have not read from the source — ask the counter for the ORFS thread on your size.

The counter gave me a code with a different fifth digit — is it wrong?

Not necessarily. Both series exist in the full supplier catalogue at most sizes, and at the same dash size they are the same physical size — at dash 12 both weigh 0.444 kg. The table shows the series we normally stock at each size. If the code you were given differs only in that digit, ask the counter to confirm it against the part in your hand before fitting.

What should I bring when I come to buy?

The old fitting, or a photograph of it with the code readable, plus the hose size if you know it. If the code has worn off, we can work backwards from the bore and the thread — measure across the flats of the nut and tell us whether the sealing face is a cone or a flat. That is enough to place it in one of these three families.
