Brake drums are identified by four figures, and unlike a disc there is no easy way to check three of them once the drum is on the vehicle. Taking the measurements while the old drum is off the vehicle is what makes the order right first time.

On an even number of studs, measure centre to centre across two opposite holes. Does the drum carry the wheel bearing?

Toyota drum numbers run like 42431-XXXXX, Nissan 43206-XXXXX, Mitsubishi MB and MR prefixes, Hyundai and Kia 52760-XXXXX. The number is usually cast on the outer face near the stud holes. Where it cannot be read, the four measurements identify the drum without it.

Not necessarily, but the shoe lining material must suit the drum and the vehicle. A hard lining on a soft drum wears the drum quickly; a soft lining fades under load. Where the vehicle carries loads daily, say so at the counter so the right lining grade goes out with the drums.
