With more than two thousand brake hose listings on the shelf, searching by model name alone returns too many results and the wrong ones look right. The reliable route is to measure the old hose and match on five figures, then confirm the routing against the vehicle before the customer leaves.

Why do front and rear hoses differ so much?

Not the hose itself, but the routing often changes because the sensor cable shares the bracket, and an ABS vehicle may use a different length. Should hoses be sold in pairs?

Per axle, yes. Both hoses on an axle are the same age and the same exposure, and a firm new hose on one side against a swollen old one on the other pulls the vehicle under hard braking. The part is inexpensive and the wheel is already off, so the second one costs only its own price.

What must be done after fitting?

Renew both copper washers on any banjo, bleed that corner until the fluid runs clear, then turn the steering lock to lock and cycle the suspension while watching the hose — it must not stretch tight, twist, or touch the tyre, spring or driveshaft at any point. Finally check the pedal is firm before the vehicle moves.
