Replacing a stabilizer link puts the vehicle on a lift with the wheel off, so the parts around it should be checked in the same visit. Look at the stabilizer bar bushings, the link on the opposite side, and the ball joint and tie rod end on that corner while everything is accessible.

If the rubber is cracked or flattened, yes — they are inexpensive and the bar has to be released to fit them, which is easier while the area is already open. If the bushings are still supple and gripping the bar firmly, leave them. A common outcome is that the links are replaced, the rattle stops, and a duller knock remains — which is the bushings, and means a second visit.

Is a wheel alignment needed?

No. Neither the stabilizer links nor the bar bushings set any wheel angle, so no alignment is required after this job. If your workshop quotes for an alignment purely for a stabilizer link replacement, ask why — unless other suspension work is being done at the same time, it is not needed.
