The ring is listed as 5202 with no series letter because the same ring serves both the light and heavy series at a given tube size — 5202-06 is the 6 mm ring. How should the tube end be prepared?

Cut it square — a hacksaw or a tube cutter, never an angle grinder, which leaves the end hardened and out of square. Remove the burr inside and outside, then clean the swarf out of the tube. How far must the tube go in before tightening?

Turn the nut by hand until it stops, then tighten with a spanner until you feel the ring bite and the resistance rise sharply. Back it off, pull the tube out and look: a correctly set ring leaves a visible raised collar of metal in front of it and cannot be slid along the tube by hand. A ring already set on a tube can go back onto the same tube in the same body and reseal.
