What features change the part number?

How do I count the pins and why does it matter?

Unplug the old mirror and count the terminals in the connector. Broadly: a small count covers glass adjustment alone; more terminals add folding, then heating, then the indicator. How are left and right numbered?

Do I need the whole mirror or just the glass?

Decide by what is broken. If only the reflective glass is cracked and the housing and motors are sound, a glass and backing plate is a fraction of the cost — but check whether yours is heated, because a heated glass has two spade terminals behind it. Genuine mirrors are supplied either in a factory colour code or primed for painting. A second-hand mirror from another car is the usual source of a near-miss — the shade drifts with age and sun. If appearance matters, buy primed and have it sprayed to your car code; it costs less than living with a mirror that is visibly a different white.

Does the mirror need coding or calibration after fitting?
