Before buying a sensor, check four things: the connector for water and green corrosion, the cable for chafing where it passes a bracket, the earth point for that circuit, and the live reading on a scan tool. A large share of sensor codes are cured by cleaning a plug.

How do I tell a wiring fault from a sensor fault?

Watch the live reading while gently moving the harness by hand with the ignition on. If the value jumps or drops out as the loom is flexed, the fault is in the wiring or the connector. A genuinely failed sensor usually reads steadily wrong or reads nothing at all regardless of how the harness is moved.

Clear it after the repair, then drive the vehicle through the conditions that set it and see whether it returns. Clearing the code before diagnosing throws away the freeze frame data, which records what the engine was doing when the fault was recorded and is often the most useful clue you have.

Two sensors have codes at once. Which do I replace?

Neither, yet. Two codes at once usually points at something they share, most often a common earth point, a shared supply voltage or a section of harness they both run through. Find what the two circuits have in common and check that first, because replacing both sensors will usually leave the fault exactly where it was.
