Shock Absorber နှင့် Strut ကွာခြားချက်
A shock absorber only damps movement, while a strut damps movement and also forms part of the structure that holds the wheel in place. Because a strut is structural, replacing a strut is a bigger job than replacing a shock absorber, and the two are not interchangeable.

Are a shock absorber and a strut the same part?

No. A shock absorber is a damper only, mounted alongside a separate spring and separate suspension arms. A strut is a damper built into a structural housing that also carries the spring and locates the top of the wheel assembly. Removing a strut changes the wheel alignment; removing a shock absorber usually does not.

Look at how the spring sits. If the coil spring wraps around the damper as a single assembly, that is a strut. If the spring sits separately from a thin damper mounted nearby, that is a shock absorber. Most modern passenger cars use struts at the front and shock absorbers at the rear; most pickups use shock absorbers at both ends.

- A shock absorber is a damper only; a strut is a damper plus a structural housing that carries the spring.
- A shock absorber is usually cheaper and quicker to fit; a strut costs more and takes longer.
- Replacing a strut requires a wheel alignment afterwards; replacing a shock absorber usually does not.
- A strut may be sold bare or as a complete assembly with the spring and top mount already fitted.
- Both are replaced in axle pairs, never singly.
