Front and rear are never the same part, and two bellows of the same diameter can have different top plates, different stud patterns and different piston heights. What does FR and RE mean in the listing?

Front and rear. Our listings carry it in the title for exactly this reason — for example Winpower FR ME056299 and Winpower RE MC056515 for Mitsubishi, or FR 52270-2253 and RE 52270-1350 for Hino. How do I read the OE numbers?

Three families cover our range. Hino uses 52270 followed by four digits — 52270-1350 and 52270-2253. Mitsubishi Fuso uses MC and ME prefixes such as MC056515 and ME056299. Nissan UD uses 95148 for one position and 95246 for another, as in 95148-00Z11, 95148-00Z14, 95246-00Z12 and 95246-00Z16. The prefix alone tells you the maker.

What physical dimensions have to match?

Five. The bellows outside diameter. The design height, which is the height the spring is meant to sit at in service — get this wrong and the levelling valve fights it. The top plate stud pattern and thread size. The air port position and thread. And the bottom piston fixing, whether it is a central bolt or a bead ring. Photograph the top and bottom of the old spring.

Across an axle, yes. A new bellows is at full height and a tired one beside it is not, so the levelling valve sets a height that leaves the vehicle leaning. On a rear axle with two bellows per side, replace all four. On the front, replace both. The parts are the cheaper half of the job.

Can I fit an air spring from a different axle position?

No, even when it physically bolts up. Front and rear bellows are sized for very different loads and design heights, so a front spring on a rear axle will be working beyond its rated load and a rear spring on the front will sit at the wrong height for the levelling valve. Our listings mark every item FR or RE for exactly this reason.
