Most of our power strips now carry USB sockets alongside the mains outlets, and they are sold in three cable lengths. Those two choices — how many USB ports and how long the cable — account for most of the price difference between one strip and another.

Each bar shows what one appliance draws against the 2300 watt total a single strip can carry. A kettle takes about 1000 watts and an iron about 1200, so those two alone fill 2200 of the 2300 watts and leave almost nothing for anything else — the grey stub at the bottom right is all that remains. The green bars are the small loads: a monitor around 30 watts, a phone charging over USB around 18, and even a fast Type-C PD port only about 65. USB charging is never what overloads a strip; heat-producing appliances are.
What does the 2300W rating on the strip mean?

It is the total the whole strip can carry, not what each socket can take. At our 230 volt supply, 2300 watts is exactly 10 amps. Everything plugged in shares that one budget — so a 1000 watt kettle plus a 1200 watt iron is already 2200 watts, and there is almost nothing left for anything else on that strip.

Do the USB ports count towards that 2300 watts?

Yes, but they take very little of it. A phone charging over USB draws around 10 to 18 watts, and even a fast Type-C PD port is usually 20 to 65 watts. Four phones charging together is still under 100 watts. It is the kettle and the iron that fill the budget, never the phones.

What is the difference between USB and Type-C PD?

Shape and speed. The older rectangular USB port charges at a fixed low rate. Type-C is the small oval port, and PD means Power Delivery — the strip and the phone agree on a higher voltage so the phone charges faster. Our FELC.01 strip carries two USB plus a Type-C port at about 22,500 kyat.

Which cable length should I buy?

Our strips come in 3, 5, 8 and 10 metre cables. Buy the length you need and no more. A longer cable is not dangerous, but the habit of leaving the unused length coiled tight is — a coiled cable under load traps its own heat instead of shedding it. If you buy the 10 metre strip, run the cable out flat or in loose loops.

What does MOG certified mean on the label?

It is the mark that the strip has been through the local certification, and several of our strips carry it — the Deli and FELC.01 models among them. An uncertified strip from a street stall may have thin conductors and no fuse inside, which is exactly the part you cannot see when you are choosing one.

Why is one strip 9,600 kyat and another 75,400?

The cheap end is a moulded strip with basic sockets. The expensive end adds certification, a heat resistant body, a rated 2300 watt capacity printed on it and better internal wiring. Between them our range runs about 10,200, 11,300, 13,200, 14,700, 22,500, 27,200 and 30,100 kyat, mostly separated by USB count and cable length.

Can I plug one power strip into another?

Do not. Each strip is rated for 2300 watts on the assumption it is fed directly from the wall. Chaining them puts the whole load of both strips through one plug and one cable, and the first strip in the chain has no way to know what the second one is carrying. Run a longer cable from the wall instead — that is what the 8 and 10 metre versions are for.
